Operations 15 Oper ati ons P ower up the server 1. Connect the power cord to the server (" Connecting th e power cord " on page 28 ). 2. Press the Power On/Standby button. The server ex its standby mo de and applies full p ower to the system .
Operations 16 • Press and hold the Power On/Standby button fo r more than 4 seconds to force the server to enter standby mode. This m ethod forces the server to enter standby mode without properly exiting applications and the OS. If an application stops responding, you can use this method to force a shutdown.
Operations 17 5. Slide the rel ease tab upwar d to unlock the front bezel from the cha ssis. 6. Open the fron t bezel. R emove the front bezel 1. Open the fron t bezel (on page 16 ).

Setup 25 S erver war nings and caut ions WARNING: To reduce the risk o f personal inj ury from hot surfa ces, allow the d rives and the internal system components to cool before touchi ng them. WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, electric shock, or damage to the equipment, remove the power co rd to remove power from the server.
Setup 26 C onnecting per ipheral devices The I/O connectors a re color coded and are ma rked with icons. The server h as seven USB conn ectors: • Four external USB 2.0 connectors, two each on the front and rear panels • Two external rear U SB 3.0 conne ctor s • One internal USB 2.
Setup 27 • Dedicated iLO conn ector To connect an Ethernet cable: 1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the NIC 1 c onnector. 2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to a netw ork jack.
Setup 28 C onnecting the power c ord WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment: • Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The g rounding plug is an imp ortant safety feature. • Plug the power cord int o a grounded (earthed ) electrical outlet that is eas ily accessible at all times.
Setup 29 P owering on and selecting boot options 1. Press the Power On/Standby button. 2. Check the ser ver Power LED sta tus . The LED flashes green to indicate that the AC power connection is establish ed.

Setup 38 To establish a simple Ethernet connection: 1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the server NIC c onnector 1 or 2. 2. Connect the cable to any switch net work port. To establish an Ethernet connection with iLO functionality by usi ng the dedicated iLO connector: 1.
Setup 39 2. Under the Network menu , select the NIC and TCP/IP option. 3. Set the Network Interface Adapter field to Shared Ne twork Port — LOM . 4. To save the c hange, press F 10 . 5. To close the iLO RBSU, under the File menu, select the Exit option.
