4 Hull assembly Position the hulls in paralle l with the inner sides fa- cing the ground . Lift the ri ght hull. One person stradd les the hull to hold it in place. The other person applie s the silicone sealant (for waterproofing) around th e screw holes.
5 Trampoline Unfold the trampoline. No te that the side tension lines are prethreaded. Insert the front sealed bolt rope edge into the tram- poline track of the front corssbar. Continue feeding the trampoline into the trampo line track and position it in the centre.
6 Trampoline Retighten rear lacing from left to righ t. Tie the rear laci ng off securely at the eyelet posts on the right ha nd end of the re ar bea m. NB : It is impor- tant that the trampoline la cing is kept very tight. 7 NB : Check the trampoline tension on a regu lar basis.
7 Identify the right rudder from the left rudde r (green sticker = right ; red sticker = left) Take the left rudder, and align the upp er rudder cas- ting onto the rear gudgeo n. 1 Rudder assembly Insert the rudder pin, and do not forget to put in the two split rings: one on top an d one at the bottom of the rudder pin.
8 Tiller crossbar & extension Take the tiller crossbar and insert the right side into the right rudder arm and th e left side into the left rud- der arm . 1 Take the yoke co nnection of the tiller exten sion and fix it into the middle of the tiller crossbar Then fix the tiller head into the yoke connection as shown on the photo.
9 Mast Set-up Place the mast onto two supports (eg: tw o pieces of polysty rene). Unroll the trapeze wires and fix them using a shackle to the upp er hole on the mast t ang (tw o on each side). 1 Unroll the shrouds and the forestay wire (w ith the jib haly ard block) and fix them to the low er hole of the mast tang using a shackle.
10 Spreader Bars Slide the diamond Wire s into the c orres pon ding sl ot s at the e nd of the s preaders. Ensure the b lac k plas tic roller is abov e the spreader arm. I t m ay be necess ary to release tens io n from th e diam ond wire turnbuck le adjuster nea r the base of t he m ast .
11 Attach the bridle wi res to the bow tangs. Mast Set-up Lay the mast on top of the boat with the sail track to the bottom and the mast base toward the bo ws. Place padding unde r the mast to preve nt scratching. 1 Lay the shroud wires and trapeze wires down each side of the mast.
12 Once the mast is secure remove the bolt from the base of the mast and stow it in a secure pl ace. You will need the bolt later for safe lowering of the mast. Place the mast foot on the mast base and place the pin in it. This prevents the mast from leaving it s base when lifted.
13 Trapeze Release the trapeze wires from the base of the mast. Th e crew’s trapeze has the clamcleat swaged to the wire. Ensure that the crews trapeze wire is positioned in front of the shroud. Attach the trapeze handle s an d kits to the trapeze wires.
14 Boom Tie one end of the rotatio n line to the front of the clamcleat on top of the boom. Pass the other end of th e line through the end of th e ro tat i on arm on the mast. Take the line back th ro ug h the clamcleat and fit a plas tic ball stopper at the end.
15 Mainsail Always point your Hobie directly into the win d be fore you raise the mainsail. Unfold the mainsail onto the tramp oline and insert each batten into its respective pocket. The batte ns are numbered (from 1 to 7) the smallest (N ° 1) goes at th e top of the sail and the longest (N° 7) at the bottom of the sail.
16 Take the righting line from the rope ba g. Attach it to the do lphin striker post und er the fron t crossbar (photo). Pass it under the trampoline throug h the grommet at the base of the mast. Fold up the end of the lin e and stow it in the trampoline pocket at the base of the mast.
17 Shackle the jib head to the jib halyard. Then positi the jib and the halyard line ag ainst the forestay. Close the zipper ensuring that the halyard line re main s inside the zipper. As you pull down on th e ha lyard line close the zipp er as th e sail is raised.
18 Jib sheet (self tacking system ) Take the white spectra ro pe and to one end tie on to th e top of the middle size block. Now take the yellow thicker sheet rope and starting from one swivel cam cle.
19 Shackle the mainsh eet ratchet block to the top of the main traveller car. Mainsheet system Thread the tail of the main sheet thro ugh the swivel cleat assy on the rear beam, thro ugh the sheave s o n the traveller car, do wn through the eyestrap on the rea r of the beam and tie a figure «8» knot in the end.
20 Before Sailing Install the drain plugs – do not overtighten , han d tig ht is sufficient. Overtightening may cause the drain plug flange to d istort and cause leakage.
21 Attach the Spi halyard block Shackle the spi halyard block through the small bow shackle attached to the thin cord at the top of your FX- One mast. Now pass the halyard through the pulley and thread as pe r the photograph .
22 The spinnaker sheet (red ) can now be rigged as per the schematic. Tie both end s of the spinnaker sheet to the clew of the spinnaker using either bowline knots or figure «8» knots. NB : ensure that the spinna ke r she e t run s th ro ug h th e ra tch et blocks in the right dir ec tio n.
