INTRODUCTION 3 Introduction Thank you for choosing Harman Kardon! With the purchase of a Harman Kardon A VR 2000 you are about to begin many years of lis- tening enjoyment. T he A VR 2000 has been cus- tom designed to provide all the excitement and detail of movie sound tracks and every nuance of musical selections .
4 SAFETY INFORMA TION Safety Information Important Safety Information V erify Line V oltage Before Use Y our A VR 2000 has been designed for use with 220-240-V olt A C current. Connection to a line voltage other than that for which it is intended can create a safety and fire hazard and may damage the unit.

12 REMO TE CONTROL FUNCTIONS Remote Control Functions IMPORT ANT NO TE: T he A VR 2000’ s remote may be programmed to control up to seven devices , including the A VR 2000. Before using the remote , it is important to remember to press the Input Selector button 4 that corre- sponds to the unit you wish to operate .
REMO TE CONTROL FUNCTIONS 13 I Direct Button: Press this button when the tuner is in use to start the sequence for direct entry of a station’ s frequency . After pressing the button simply press the proper Numeric K eys G to select a station (See page 29 for more information on the tuner).

SY STEM CONFIGURATION 17 System Configuration When all audio , video and system connections have been made , there are a few configuration adjustments that must be made . A few minutes spent to correctly configure and calibrate the unit will greatly add to your listening experience .

SY STEM CONFIGURATION 19 With the A VR 2000 turned on, follow these steps to configure the speak ers: 1. Put the A VR 2000 in the Dolby Pro Logic mode by pressing the Surround Mode Selector button 7 o.

OPERA TION 25 Operation Surround Mode Selection One of the most important features of the A VR 2000 is its ability to reproduce a full multi- channel surround sound field from digital sources , analog matrix surround encoded pro- grams and standard stereo or even mono pro- grams .
