Use this port for USB devices such as a USB key - board/mouse, USB printer , USB ash drive and etc. PS/2 Keyboard or PS/2 Mouse Port Use this port to connect a PS/2 keyboard or mouse.

- 23 - Hardware Installation 3/4/5) CPU_F AN/SYS_F AN1/SYS_FAN2/PWR_F AN (Fan Headers) The motherboard has a 4-pin CPU fan header (CPU_F AN), a 4-pin (SYS_FAN1) and one 3-pin (SYS_ F AN2) system fan headers, and a 3-pin power fan header (PWR_FAN). Most fan headers possess a foolproof insertion design.

BIOS Setup - 36 - The Functions of the <F1 1> and <F12> keys (For the Main Menu Only) F1 1: Save CMOS to BIOS This function allows you to save the current BIOS settings to a prole. Y ou can create up to 8 proles (Prole 1-8) and name each prole.

BIOS Setup - 46 - OnChip SA T A Port4/5 T ype (AMD SB850 South Bridge, SA T A3_4~SA T A3_5 connectors) This option is congurable only when OnChip SA T A T ype is set to RAID or AHCI . Congures the oper- ating mode of the integrated SA T A3_4/SA T A3_5 connectors.

BIOS Setup - 48 - USB Controllers Enables or disables the integrated USB controllers. (Default: Enabled) Disabled will turn off all of the USB functionalities below .

- 53 - BIOS Setup Press <Enter> on this item and then press the <Y> key to load the safest BIOS default settings. In case system instability occurs, you may try to load Fail-Safe defaults, which are the safest and most stable BIOS settings for the motherboard.
BIOS Setup - 54 - Press <Enter> on this item and type the password with up to 8 characters and then press <Enter>. Y ou will be requested to conrm the password.

- 75 - Appendix Chapter 5 Appendix 5-1 Conguring SA T A Hard Drive(s) T o congure SA T A hard drive(s), follow the steps below: A. Install SA T A hard drive(s) in your computer. B. Congure SA T A controller mode in BIOS Setup. C. Congure a RAID array in RAID BIOS.

Appendix - 78 - Create Arrays Manually T o create a new array , press <2> to enter the LD View Menu window (Figure 4). T o create an array , press <Ctrl+C> to access the LD Dene Menu . In the LD Dene Menu , use the up or down arrow key to move to an item for further conguration (Figure 5).

Appendix - 80 - Delete an Array The Delete Array menu option allows for deletion of disk array assignments. Deleting an existing disk array could result in loss of data. Record all array information including the array type, the disk members, and stripe block size in case you wish to undo a deletion.

Set Block Size (RAID 0 only): Under the Block item, use the up or down arrow key to select the stripe block size (Figure 6), ranging from 4 KB to 128 KB.

Appendix - 90 - For the GIGABYTE SA T A2/JMicron JMB362: Insert the oppy disk containing the SA TA RAID/AHCI driver and press <S>. Then a controller menu similar to Figure 3 below will appear. Select RAID/AHCI Driver for GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller (x32) and press <Enter>.
- 91 - Appendix B. Installing Windows Vista The procedure below assumes that only one RAID array exists in your system. For the AMD SB850: Step 1: Restart your system to boot from the Windows Vista setup disk and perform standard OS installation steps.
Appendix - 92 - Step 3: When a screen as shown in Figure 6 appears, select AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller and click Next . Step 4: After the driver is loaded, the RAID drive will appear . Select the RAID drive and then click Next to continue the OS installation (Figure 7).

- 95 - Appendix Rebuilding an Array: Rebuilding is the process of restoring data to a hard drive from other drives in the array . Rebuilding applies only to fault-tolerant arrays such as RAID 1, RAID 5, or RAID 10. T o replace the old drive, make sure to use a new drive of equal or greater capacity .
Appendix - 96 - For the GIGABYTE SA T A2/JMicron JMB362: Turn off your computer and replace the failed hard drive with a new one. Use either the RAID setup utility or the GIGABYTE RAID CONFIGURER utility in the operating system to perform the rebuild.
