8 SURFACE COOKING Use Proper Cookware Cookware should hav e at bottoms that make good contact with the entire surface heating element. Check f or atness by rotating a ruler across the bot tom of the cookware (See Figure 2). Be sure to follow the r ecommendations for using cookware as shown in Figure 1.
9 SURFACE COOKING CAUTION Canning can generate lar ge amounts of steam. Use extreme caution to prevent burns. Alw ays raise the lid to vent steam awa y from you. Prevent damage to cooktop and burner gr ates: 1. Do not use water bath or pressure canners that extend more than one inch beyond the edge of the burner grate.

12 BEFORE SETTING OVEN CONTROLS Oven vent location Each oven has its own vent as shown below (Figur e 1). When the oven is ON, w arm air is released through the vent. This venting is necessary f or proper air circulation in the oven and good baking r esults.

For satisf actory use of your oven, become familiar with the v arious features and functions of the o ven as described below . 14 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM CONTROL PAD SETTINGS All of the features listed below have minimum and maximum time or temperature settings that may be entered into the control. An ENTRY acceptance beep will sound each time a control pad is touched (the acceptance beep on the Oven Lockout pad is delay ed 3 seconds).
15 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS SETTING SILENT CONTROL OPERATION The DELAY START and SELF CLEAN pads control the Silent Control operation f eature. The Silent Control operation f eature allows the oven control to be oper ated without sounds or beeps whenever necessary .

18 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS NOTE If your clock is set for normal 12 hour displa y mode the Delayed Timed Bake or Delay ed Timed Conv ection Bake cycle can never be set to start more than 12 hours in advance.
19 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS SETTING BROIL The BROIL pad controls the Broil feature. When broiling, heat radiates downw ard fr om the oven broiler for even cover age. The oven can be programmed to broil at any temperature from 400°F to 550°F with a def ault temperature of 550°F .
20 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS SETTING MY FAVORITE The My F avorite pad is used to record and recall your fav orite recipe settings. This feature ma y store and recall from 1 to 3 diff erent settings. The My F avorite feature may be used with Bake or Timed Bake.
21 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS SETTING THE SABBATH FEATURE (for use on the Jewish Sabbath & Holidays) The BAKE TIME and DELAY START pads are used to set the Sabbath feature.

23 What to Expect during Cleaning While the oven is in oper ation, the oven heats to temperatures much higher than those used in normal cooking. Sounds of metal expansion and contraction are normal. Odor is also normal as the food soil is being removed.
24 SETTING MAIN OVEN CONTROLS NOTE If a 2 or 4 hour clean time is desired, press 2 0 0 f or 2 hours or press 4 0 0 for a 4 hours clean time. 27 CARE & CLEANING Porcelain enamel oven Cleaning (auxiliary oven) CAUTION Ammonia must be rinsed before operating the oven. Provide adequate ventilation. CAUTION DO NOT line the oven walls, bottom, racks or an y other part of the appliance with aluminum foil.
28 CARE & CLEANING Ceramic glass cooktop cleaning & maintenance Consistent and proper cleaning is essential to maintaining your Ceramic glass cooktop. Prior to using your cooktop for the rst time, apply the recommended CERAMA BRYTE® Cleaning Creme to the ceramic surf ace.
29 CARE & CLEANING • Aluminum foil Use of aluminum foil will damage the cooktop. Do not use under any circumstances. • Aluminum utensils Since the melting point of aluminum is much lower than that of other metals, care must be taken when aluminum pots or pans are used.

33 BEFORE YOU CALL (Solutions to Common Problems) OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION Range is not level. Poor installation. Place o ven rack in center of o ven. Place a level on the ov en rack. Adjust leveling legs at base of r ange until the rack is level.
34 OCCURRENCE POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION Scratches or abrasions on cooktop surface. Coarse particles such as salt or sand between cooktop and utensils can cause scratches. Be sure cooktop surface and bot toms of utensils are clean before usage. Small scr atches do not affect cooking and will become less visible with time.
