5. Tighten the chil d saf ety se at tether strap a ccording t o the manufactur er's instructions. If your chil d restr aint sys tem is equippe d with a te ther strap , and the child r estraint manufa cturer rec ommends its use, we al so rec ommend its use.

The se atbelt pr etensioners a t the front sea ting positions are designed t o tighten the sea tbelts when activ ate d. In frontal and near-fr ontal cr ashe s, the sea tbelt pret ensioners may be ac tivat ed al one or, if the cra sh is of sufficient severity , tog ether with the front airba gs.
Pr egnant women should al way s wear their sa fe ty belt. T he lap belt portion of a combina tion lap and shoulder bel t should be positioned l ow across the hips bel ow the belly and w orn as tight a s comfort will allo w . The shoul der belt should be positioned t o cross the middl e of the shoulder and the c enter of the chest.
How t o Use the Automatic Locking Mode E142591 1. Buckle the c ombination l ap and shoulder bel t. 2. Gra sp the shoulder portion and pull downw ard until the entire bel t is pulled out. Allo w the belt t o retrac t. As the belt retr acts, y ou will hear a clicking sound.
SEA TBEL T W ARNING LAMP AND INDIC A TOR CHIME This l amp illuminat es and an audibl e warning will sound if the driver's sa fet y belt ha s not been fa stened when the v ehicle's ignition is turned on. Conditions of oper ation Then... If...
Then... If... The Bel t-Minder fea ture will not activ ate. Y ou and the front se at passeng er buckle your sa fet y belt s bef ore y ou switch the ignition on or le ss than 1-2 minutes elapse aft er you swit ch the ignition on.
3. For the seating po sition you ar e swit ching off, buckle then unbuck le the sa fe ty belt three time s at a modera te speed , ending in the unbuckled sta te. Aft er Step 3, the saf ety bel t warning light turns on. 4. Whil e the safe ty belt warning light is on, buckl e and then unbuckle the sa fe ty belt.
The P ersonal Sa fety S ystem pr ovides an impro ved ov erall le vel of frontal cr ash prot ection to front s ea t occupants and is designed t o help further reduce the risk of airbag-r ela ted injuries.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION W ARNINGS Airbags do not infl ate sl owl y or gentl y , and the risk of injury from a deplo ying airbag is the grea test cl ose to the trim c overing the airba g module .
DRIVER AND P AS SENGER AIRBA GS W ARNINGS Nev er plac e your arm or any objec ts ov er an airbag module. Placing your arm ov er a deploying airba g can resul t in serious arm fractur es or other injuries.

Integr ated K eyhead Transmit ter E138619 1. T wist a thin coin in the sl ot of the transmit ter ne ar the key ring t o remo ve the bat tery co ver . 2. Care fully remo ve the rubber ga sket from the tr ansmitter if it does not c ome off with the bat tery co ver .

PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION MyK ey allo ws you t o program k eys with restric ted driving modes to pr omote good driving habits. All but one of the k eys progr ammed to the vehicl e can be activ ated with thes e restric ted modes. Any k eys that ha ve not been progr ammed are r eferred t o as administr ator k eys or admin k eys.
• V arious vehicle speed minder s can be set. Onc e you sele ct a speed, it will be shown in the displ ay , foll ow ed by an audibl e tone when the pr eselect ed vehicl e speed is ex ceeded . • Audio sy stem maximum vol ume of 45%. A mess age will be shown in the displa y when you at tempt t o exc eed the limited v olume.
Note: Y ou can cle ar or change your MyK ey setting s at any time during the same k ey cycl e as y ou creat ed the MyK ey . Once y ou hav e switched the vehicl e off, how ever , you will need an admin k ey to chang e or clear your MyK ey se ttings.
CHECKING MYKEY S Y STEM S T A TUS Y ou can find inf ormation on progr ammed MyK ey(s) using the informa tion display contr ol on the steering wheel. S ee Information Displa ys (pag e 86). Autounl ock (If Equipped) Aut ounlock unl ocks all the doors when: • The ignition is on, all the door s are clos ed and your vehicl e has been in motion at a spe ed gre ater than 4 mph (7 km/h). • Y our vehicl e comes t o a stop and you swit ch the ignition off or to the acc essory position.
The l amps will turn off if all the doors remain cl osed and: • 25 seconds ha ve elaps ed. • Y ou lock y our vehicl e from the outside . Batt ery Saver If you l eav e the courtes y lamps, interior lamps or he adlamps on, the ba ttery sa ver shuts them off 10 minute s after y ou switch the ignition off.

ADJU STING THE S TEERING WHEEL - VEHICLES WITH: MANUAL AD JUS T ABLE S TEERING COLUMN W ARNING Do not adjust the st eering wheel when your v ehicle is moving. Note: Make sure tha t you are sitting in the corre ct position. See Sit ting in the Correct Position (pag e 116).
End of Tr avel Position The st eering column se ts a stopping position just short of the end of the col umn position to pr event damag e to the ste ering col umn. A new stopping position se ts if the ste ering col umn encounters an obje ct when tilting or t elesc oping.

ADJU STING THE PED ALS W ARNING Nev er use the contr ols while y our fe et are on the a ccel erat or and brake pedals and the v ehicle is moving. Y ou can find the c ontrol on the left side of the ste ering col umn. Press and hol d the appropria te side of the contr ol to mov e the pedals.
WINDSHIELD WIPER S Note: Fully defr ost the windshield bef ore you s witch the windshield wipers on. Note: Make sure y ou switch the windshiel d wipers off be fore entering a c ar wash. Note: Clean the windshiel d and wiper blade s if they begin to l eav e streaks or smears.
Use the rotary c ontrol to a djust the sensitivity of the r ain sensor . Set the contr ol to lo w sensitivity , and the wipers will turn on when the rain sensor de tects a lar ge amount of moisture on the windshield .
GENERAL INF ORMA TION Condensa tion in L amp Assemblies Ext erior lamps hav e vents to acc ommodate normal chang es in air pressur e. Condensa tion can be a natur al by-produc t of this design. When moist air ent ers the lamp a ssembly thr ough the vent s, there is a possibility tha t condensation c an occur when the temper ature is c old.
Headlamp Flasher E163268 Slightly pull the l ever t owar d you and rel ease it t o flash the he adlamps. AUT OLAMPS W ARNING The aut olamps swit ch position may not activ ate the hea dlamps in all lo w visibility conditions, such as daytime fog.
INS TRUMENT LIGHTING DIMMER Note: If you disconnec t and connec t the bat tery , or fully dis charg e and charg e the bat tery , the lighting le vel will swit ch to the maximum set ting. E173259 Use the instrument lighting dimmer to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel and all applicabl e lighting in your vehicl e.
The da ytime running lamps turn on when: 1. The ignition is s witched to the on position. 2. The lighting c ontrol is in the off position, parking l amps position or the autol amps position, and the sensor det ects da ylight.
Manuall y Overriding the Sy stem E167827 When the aut omatic contr ol has activa ted the high beams, pushing or pulling the st alk will pro vide a temporary o verride to l ow beam. Use the informa tion display menu t o permanently de activa te the syst em, or swit ch the lighting control from aut olamps to he adlamps.
Sec ond Row Map Lamps E224957 A R eading lamps. A The sec ond row l amps light when: • Any door is open. • Y ou press and hol d the top of the instrument lighting dimmer swit ch past the first det ent. • Y ou press an y of the remote entry contr ols and the ignition is in the off position.
POWER WINDO WS W ARNINGS Do not le ave chil dren unat tended in your v ehicle and do not le t them play with the pow er windows. T hey may seriousl y injure themsel ves. When cl osing the power windo ws, you shoul d verify they ar e free of obstructions and mak e sure that childr en and pets are not in the pro ximity of the window openings.
GLOBAL OPENING (If Equipped) Y ou can use the r emote contr ol to oper ate the window s with the ignition off. Note: Y ou can enable or dis able this fe ature in the informa tion display , or see an authorized de aler . Se e General Information (pa ge 86).
Puddl e L amps (If Equipped) The l amps on the bottom part of the mirr or housing light when you use y our transmit ter t o unlock the doors or when you open a door . Integr ated Blind Spot Mirror s (If Equipped) W ARNING Objects in the blind spot mirr or are clos er than they appear .
INTERIOR MIRROR W ARNING Do not adjust the mirror when y our vehicl e is moving. Note: Do not cle an the housing or glass of any mirror with har sh abra sives, fuel or other petrol eum or ammonia-based cl eaning product s. Y ou can adjust the int erior mirror to y our pref erence .
