VIDEO CASSETTE T APES Use only video cas sette tapes bearing the w logo. This VCR was primaril y designed for use wi th T-120 or T-160 cassette tapes, i t is recommended to use T-120 or T-160 standard grade VHS vi deo cassette tapes for optimal performance.
VIDEO CASSE TTE T APES Correct tape thread check function If the correct tape thread check func tion is on, after the cassette tape is loaded, a mec hanism will oper ate for about 5 seconds to check that the tape has been threaded (loaded) correctly and the c assette indicator “ o ” will bli nk during that period.
NORMAL RECORDING Normal Recording œ Turn the power on to all devices used. œ Load a cassette tape with erasur e-prevention tab. NOTE: œ If in the (SET UP 3) menu, TA PE IN MODE is set to “REC”, recording wi ll start after the tape thread has been checked.
NORMAL RECORDING Concerning the Number of Times Tapes can be Rerecorded on Depending on the recording speed mode, the tape must be replaced after a certain number of recor ding times. Refer to the table below for the maximum number of times a tape can be recorded on.
NORMAL RECORDING Recording Check The image being recorded can be chec ked. 1 During recording, press the PLAY (REC CHECK) button. ø The tape will be rewound and then play ed back. The VCR will then return to the previous recording mode. NOTE: œ During recording c heck operations, recor ding is suspended momentarily.
AUT OREPEA T RECORDING Autorepeat Recording The same tape can be recorded over many times . œ Follow the Before starting steps, under “N ORMAL RECORDING”. 1 Set the REPEAT REC switch to the “ON” positi on. ø The REPEAT i ndicator will li ght.
ALARM RECORDING By connecting the ALARM IN terminal to a door switch, an interphone, etc., a recording can be done onl y when necessary. Alarm Recording Setting Alarm recording is perform ed when there is an input (trigger) at the ALARM IN terminal, “AL” i s displayed on the digital dis play.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Recording Counter Display œ During alarm recording, “AL” will be flashing on the digital displ ay. œ If the ON SCREEN switch is set to the “ ON” position, the number of alarms will flash on the moni tor screen.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Search To go to the beginning of a desired al arm recording. 1 Press the SEARCH button during s top mode. ø “AL SEARCH 01” will be displayed on screen. 2 Press the REC/PLAY SPE ED l (or j ) button to set the desired alarm number (1 to 99), then turn the SHUTTLE ring clockwis e (or counterclock wise).
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING There are two program timer recording methods, dai ly recording or recordi ng on certain days of the week . Example 1: To record on every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (17:00), in 24-hour mode (recording speed). œ Follow the Before starting steps, under “N ORMAL RECORDING”.
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING A timer recording of more than 24 hour s can only be set on the 7th (SAT) and 8th (DLY) lines of the (TIMER S ET) menu. Example 2: To record every we ek fro m Satur day at 9:00 PM (2 1:00) to Mo nday at 7:00 AM, in 40-hour mode (recording sp eed).
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING Setting the Holidays By setting the holiday s, timer recording wi ll be conducted on those days, as s et for Sundays. 1 Press the MENU button until the (HOLIDAY SE T) menu is displayed.
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING NOTES: œ During timer recording or timer recording stand-by, al l the buttons on the VCR, except the TIM ER button and the buttons to set/cancel the secur ity lock (see page 30), are disabled. œ If the power fails, the recor ding will be interrupted.
RECORDING USING AN EXTERNAL TIMER INPUT Recording can be controlled by an external start/stop signal input at the EXT TIM ER IN terminal. Example 3: To record using the signal input at the EXT TI MER IN ter minal, in 24-hour mode. œ Follow the Before starting steps, under “N ORMAL RECORDING”.
SERIES RECORDING Using 2 VCRs or more, the s eries recording function l ets you switch recor ding from one unit to the next (only wi th VCRs of the same model as this one). Series Recording Setup œ Connect 2 VCRs or more as ill ustrated below. œ Set the TAPE SE LECT switch according to the duration of the tape used.
SERIES RECORDING Continous Loop Recording Setup It is possible to c onfigure at least two this VCR for continous loop recor ding. Under loop recording when the r ecording finishes on the first unit, the new recording wi ll start on the sec ond unit. When the recording fini shes on the second unit, recor ding will start on the fir st unit.
NORMAL PLA YBACK Normal Playback 1 Turn on the power to the VCR and TV monitor. 2 Load the video cassette tape. 3 Press the REC/PLAY SPE ED l (or j ) button to select the play back speed mode. ø The selected pl ayback speed mode is displayed on the digital displ ay.
SPECIAL PLA YBACK Picture Search (Forward and Reverse) 1 Turn the SHUTTLE ring clockwis e (or counterclockwise) , during normal playback. See “SHUTTLE Ring Operation”. ø The image can be seen while the tape i s advanced (or rewound) at high speed.
SPECIAL PLA YBACK Day/Time Search 1 Press the SEARCH button three times during stop mode. ø “T/D SEARCH 01 00:00” will be displayed on screen. 1H22M33S T/D@SEARCH 01@@00:00 DAY@TIME 2 Press the REC/PLAY SPE ED l (or j ) button to set the desired day, then turn the JOG dial clockw ise.
T APE COUNTER Using the counter, it is easy to find a desired rec ording. 1 Press the COUNTER RESET button, at the beginning of the desired recording. ø The counter will be reset to “ 0 H 00 M 00 S ”. 2 Press the COUNTER MEMORY button. ø “ [ ” is displayed on the di gital display .
SETTING THE BUZZER During alarm recording, i f the tape reaches the end, if buttons are pressed, or if there is a V CR mechanical failure, the tape will s top or be ejected and a buzzer can be sounded. 1 Press the MENU button until the (SET UP 2) menu is displayed.
SETTING THE CASSETTE EJECT MODE Cassette Eject Setup When using 2 VCRs or more, the cassette tape of all the VCRs or some of the VCRs c an be ejected, if the EJECT terminals on the V CRs are connected as indic ated. 1 Press the MENU button until the (SET UP 4) menu is displayed.
SETTING THE RS-232C OR RS-485 DA T A TRANSFER SPEED The VCR can be controll ed by a computer connected to the RS-232C connector. It can al so be controlled through a special c ontroller connected to the RS-485 connec tor. You must speci fy which connector (RS -232C or RS-485) is used.

OUTPUT TERMINALS TAPE END OUT Terminal œ During recording, when the end of the tape is r eached or when the tape counter reading indicates 7 hour s 57 minutes or more, the output becomes 0V (Low). œ To reset the output, press the STOP or EJECT button.

This terminal i s usually connected to the sw itch input (SW IN) of devices li ke a camera switcher unit, or a quad compr essor. MAINTENANCE Daily Inspection The following daily inspections ar e recommended in order to assure long-term and trouble- free operation of the unit. The daily inspec tions are particularly important if using autorepeat recording. Inspection Procedure 1 Turn on the power to the VCR, camera, TV monitor and other connected devices .
