2 Installation instructions Unpacking T o ensure the best performance from your new washer please follow the instructions below . Removing the packaging 1 Remove the outer packaging. 2 Tilt the machine backwards and walk it off the bottom packer one foot at a time .

Old hose sets should not be re-used. 1 Connect the straight ends of the inlet hoses to the taps (thereare washers fitted in both ends).
4 W ater supply Y our cold wat er should not exceed 35°C and your hot water should not ex ceed 65°C. T emperatures above these may cause the machine t o fault or cause damage to the machine. If you have an uncon trolled water heating sourc e (eg a wet back or solar heating system) y ou should fit a Safe Valve (sold separa tely).

6 Using y our W ashSmar t™ washer B. F abric softener If you wish to use fabric softener , place it in the dispenser on the top of the agitator (r efer to page 21). Impor tant! F abric softener must not be used if you have selected the ECO or QUICK W ASH option (refer to page 14).
7 Using y our W ashSmar t™ washer If you wish to stop y our W ashSmar t™ washer Press ST ART/P A USE. If it is during spray rinse or spin there is a slight delay while the bowl slo ws to a stop and the lid is unlocked. Impor tant! For best f abric and colour care remov e your clothes as soon as the cycle has finished.
8 Using y our QuickSmar t™ washer Place the load evenly ar ound the agitator (ref er to ‘S orting’ and ‘Loading’ , page 19). Remove fabric softener dispenser . A. Detergent F ollow the instructions on the detergent package.
9 Using y our QuickSmar t™ washer C. POWER Press POWER t o turn the machine on. D . W ash cycles Select the c ycle you want b y pressing the W ASH CYCLES button loca ted below the REGULAR cycle indicator . Scroll through the cycles until the light for the one you w ant is lit.
10 Lid lock Y our washer has a lid lock, which locks when your machine is spinning. This ensures the lid cannot be opened during hazardous parts of the c ycle, pro viding added safety for you and y our family . The LID L OCKED light (above the ST ART/P AUSE button) comes on when the lid is locked to tell y ou when you cannot open the lid.

12 T o selec t the wash options W ashSmar t™ model 1 Select the wash c ycle, temper ature, wat er level and spin speed (ref er to page 7). 2 Press the OPTIONS butt on if you want to choose ECO , SOAK or QUICK W ASH (refer to pages 14 and 15). 3 Press ST ART/P A USE.
13 W ater lev els Fig .21 W ater level guide on agitator Manual water lev el selection The agitator has fiv e levels marked on its stem that can be used to help you select the correct water level for y our load. Select the correct water level by using the lowest visible mark on the agitat or .
14 W ash options – saving wa ter and time Eco W ashSmar t™ and QuickSmar t™ models Use the ECO option t o save water . The ECO option uses an Eco Spray rinse which has been specially designed t o use at least 25% less water than a traditional rinse .
15 W ash options Soak W ashSmar t™ model only Use the SOAK option to soak clothes a t the end of the wash phase or when you wish to re-use the wash water . When you select SOAK your w asher will soak for a period of 2hours before completing RINSE and SPIN.
16 W ash options W ashing bulk y items F orcing large items into the machine ma y result in them being damaged during washing. Make sure there is enough room in the machine f or items to move when being washed . Some items float up during the wash (eg duvets/ doonas and pillows).
17 F av ourite c ycle F A VOURITE c ycle W ashSmar t™ model only The F A VOURITE cycle lets you programme your ideal w ash c ycle. It can be any wash cycle with any of its wash options and it can start from any point in the cycle. F or instance, it may be a cycle to wash your gym gear or it may be a rinse and spin to finish washing the nappies .
18 Cust omising the wash cycles T o customise a c ycle W ashSmar t™ model only Y ou can progr am your washer to remember the wash options y ou prefer f or each wash cycle. F or instance, y ou may want to set the REGULAR cycle to a C OLD wash or set HEA VY DUT Y to include a SOAK.
19 Before y ou wash Sor ting T o get the best wash results it pay s to sort your clothes befor e washing. Care labels The care label will tell y ou about the fabric of the garment and how it should be washed. Soil Sor t clothes according t o the type and amount of soil.
20 Detergen t Choosing the right detergen t W e recommend using domestic detergen t. Y ou can use powder or liquid . Soap flakes should not be used in your washer . When washing wool items , remember to use a detergen t specifically recommended for w oollens.
21 F abric softener How the fabric softener is dispensed The fabric softener is placed into the dispenser on the top of the agita tor . During the rinse the machine spins to release the fabric softener , delivering it down the agitator st em as the machine fills for the final deep rinse.
22 Changing pre-set options Option adjustment mode After using your washer a number of times you ma y want to fine tune some of the options to suit your wash needs. There are a number of pr e -set options, which can be alter ed. In the WashSmart™ model the following pr e -set options can be changed: The wash temperatur es.
23 Changing pre-set options 1 Enter the option adjustment mode (ref er to page 22). 2 The diagram below sho ws how the lights relat e to the options you can change. It also shows what lights will be on when you first ent er the option adjustment mode.
24 Changing pre-set options W ash temperatures On the QuickSmar t™ model the W ARM temperature can be adjusted if y ou think it is too hot or too cold. On the W ashSmar t™ model all wash temperatur es can be individually adjusted. Note: the hot and cold temperatur es will be the same as the respective water supply temper atures.
25 Changing pre-set options Contr olled cold W ashSmar t™ model only If your cold water temper ature is very low you will not get a very effective wash. The CONTROLLED C OLD option solves this problem by adding a small amount of hot water to r aise the temperature of the w ash to approximat ely 20°C.
26 Changing pre-set options Out of balance reco very routine When your washer is spinning it can sense if the wash load is out of balanc e. If an out of balance load is detected, the machine will stop and re-tr y spinning up to three times . If it still senses an unbalanced load there are two options the machine can take .
27 Machine information Caring for y our washer When you ha ve finished T urn off the taps to prevent the chance of flooding should a hose burst.
28 Machine information Additional inf ormation Products that might damage y our washer Concentra ted bleaches, nappy sanitisers and h ydrocarbon solvents (eg petr ol and paint thinners) can cause damage to the paintwork and components of your w asher .
29 Saving wat er W ater saving tips F ull loads are more efficient than part loads. Use the ECO option (r efer to page 14). Adjust the RINSE option on REGULAR and HEA VY DUT Y cycles ( W ashSmar t™ model), and REGULAR, HEA VY DUT Y and WOOL cycles ( QuickSmart™ model) to one deep rinse (refer to page24).
30 Saving wat er Manual suds save with syphon back If you have a large tub near y our washing machine and a separate drain outlet, y ou can set up another method of reusing the water . The tub should hold a minimum of 100 litres or hav e an overflow .
31 If your washer beeps f or help Y our washer is capable of diagnosing its own pr oblems. If your washer giv es a musical series of beeps every 5 seconds it is telling you that it has a problem which you can solve using the checklist below . Musical series of beeps* every 5 seconds and.
32 If your washer beeps f or help LID L OCKED light is flashing. Make sure the lid is closed. Press ST ART/P A USE (refer to page 10). If the symptom persists call your F isher & Paykel Dealer or A uthorised Repairer . First RINSE or SPIN pr ogress light is flashing as well as the SPIN SPEED ligh t.
33 Operating pr oblems Pressing POWER does not turn the machine on. Is the power switched on at the w all? Switch the pow er off at the wall and wait 60 seconds befor e turning the power on again. Could your household po wer supply be at fault? Try plugging in another electrical appliance.
34 W ash problems Listed below are possible causes and solutions t o some common wash problems. Creasing . Overloading the washer . Choose an EASY IRON or HAND W ASH c ycle ( W ashSmar t™ model), or a DELICA TE c ycle ( QuickSmar t™ model) as these c ycles hav e been designed to minimise creasing .
35 W ash problems Dye transfer . W ash and dr y non-colour fast clothes separately . Non-colour fast clothes left sitting in a washer or laundr y basket can transfer dye to other clothes . T angling. W ashing with too much water (ie underloading) can cause the clothes to tangle around one another .
36 Manufac turer’ s W arranty Y ou automatically r eceive a 2 year Manufacturer’ s W arranty with the purchase of this Productcovering parts and labour for servicing within the countr y of purchase.
37 Manufac turer’ s W arranty E Normal recommended maintenance as set out in the product’ s user guide. F R epairs when the appliance has been dismantled, r epaired or serviced by other than a Fisher&Paykel authorised repair er or the selling dealer .
