2 Thank you for buying a Fisher & Paykel side by side refrigerator . This refrigerator combines size and storage space with the latest featur es and functions. Many hours have been spent researching how you, our customer , use your refrigerator and what we can do to make life easier for you.

4 Safety and warnings Repair or replace immediately all electric service cords that have become frayed or other wise damaged. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion along its length or at either the plug or appliance end.

6 Installation instructions Door and hinge removal Some installations require door removal to get the refrigerator to its final location. T ools needed: Phillips screwdriver . 9.5 mm hex head driver . W ARNING! Electric Shock Hazard Disconnect power to refrigerator before removing doors.
7 Installation instructions 3 Close doors. 4 Remove top hinge covers by removing Phillips screws. 5 Unscrew 8 mm hex head screws from top hinges. 6 Detach main wire connec tor harness.
8 Installation instructions Handle removal Handles are installed at the fac tory. T ools needed: 4 mm Allen wrench T o remove: Remove cap-screw from handle mounting post using 4 mm Allen wrench. Repeat the procedure on all posts to remove the handle. T o replace: Align handle with the mounting posts.
9 Installation instructions 4 Using the carpenter’ s level, make sure front of refrigerator is 6 mm or ½ bubble higher than back of refrigerator and that the refrigerator is level from side to side. 5 If required , correct rocking of refrigerator by tur ning rear adjustment screw clock wise to raise rocking corner .
10 Before you star t using your refrigera tor Check refrigerator is switched on and has been allowed to cool for three to four hours before loading with food. Fit filter if desired (see page 28). Check the water is connected correctly. No visible leaks.
11 Fig .8 Control panel (RX693 / RX594) The display screen allows you to view and modify all the featur es on your refrigerator . Y ou can change the temperature of your refrigerator and freezer independently, and selec t the MA X COOL func tion when you want to quickly cool or freeze food items.
12 This refrigerator has four special functions for you to enjoy ; MAX COO L , V ACA TION , CHILL and SPEED ICE . By default all the options are off. Special func tion selection How to turn special functions on and off : Press the FUNC TION button to ac tivate the Special Functions display .
13 Chill This function allows you to chill your beverages in the freezer without the worry of forgetting about them. When ac tivated , CHILL will remind you after 20 minutes to remove your beverage by sounding an alarm. The user alar m will continue to sound until any key on the display is pressed.
14 User P referenc es menu (R X693 / RX594 models) User Prefer ences menu The User Pr eferenc es menu allows you to further customise your refrigerator , altering the settings to suit you. T o access the User Prefer ences menu, hold down the COMP AR TMENT button for four seconds.
15 User P referenc es menu (R X693 / RX594 models) T emperature Alarm (tP) When ac tivated the T emperature Alarm tells you if compartment temperatures exceed normal operating temperatures due to power outage (or other event) by sounding an alarm repeatedly .
16 All about the display (RX616 model) There is one control panel on your refrigerat or located at the inside top of the fresh food compartment. The temperatures are preset at 38˚F (3˚C) in the fresh food compar tment and 0˚F (-18˚C) in the freezer compartment.
17 Speed Ice Sometimes you need more ice than normal. Speed Ice will solve this problem by dropping the freezer compar tment temperature, increasing ice production by up to a third over normal production.
18 Reset F ilter The water filter needs to be replaced ever y 12 months or after 2838 litres of water has been filtered (whichever is sooner). T o remind you of this, the orange Order light will illuminate after 11 months or once 90% of the volume of water has been filtered .
19 Y our refrigerator has a User Pr eferenc e menu, in which you can alter settings to suit you. T o access the User Prefer ences menu, press and hold the DOOR ALARM button for three seconds.
20 The fresh food compartment is designed to keep your food as fresh, nutritious and flavoursome as possible. Fruit and vegetable storage Fruit and vegetables stored in the normal refrigerator environment will lose moisture very quickly to the cold, dr y air .
21 There are a number of customisable storage options throughout the compar tment. Shelves Caution! T o avoid personal injur y or propert y damage, obser ve the following: Never attempt to adjust a shelf that is loaded with foo d. Ensure shelf is secure before placing items on shelf.
22 Dairy shelf The dair y shelf provides con venient door storage for spreadable items such as butter and margarine. On select models, this compartment can be moved to several differ ent loca tions to accommodate storage needs. T o remove: Slide dair y shelf up and pull out.
23 Shelves Shelves can be removed to meet individual storage needs. T o remove shelf : Snap right side of shelf up from cabinet railing or wall mounting clips and slide to the right. T o install shelf: Replace shelf in lef t side cabinet railing. Snap shelf into right side cabinet railing (or wall mounting clips).
24 Refrigerator models RX693 and RX594 are equipped with an ice and water system that automatically makes and dispenses cubed and crushed ice, and filters, chills and dispenses water . The RX616 model is equipped with an ice system only that automatically makes cubed ice.
25 Display and Dispenser Lock (R X693 / RX594 models only) When the dispenser is locked, neither ice nor water can be dispensed. T o lock the dispenser press and hold the button for two seconds (the display will also be locked). The icon will be displayed on the screen.
26 Ice and wa ter Light A light activates within the dispenser cavity when dispensing ice or water with the back dispensing pad or FR ONT FILL button. Automa tic ice maker Connect the ice maker to the water supply as instruc ted on page 9. Proper water flow and a level refrigerator are essential for optimal ice maker per formance.

28 W ater filter Contact an authorised plumber if you want to install a water filter in the water system. A water filter is not supplied with the product.
29 RX693 / RX594 models only 5 Reduce water spur ts by flushing air from system. Run water continuously for two minutes through dispenser until water runs steady . During initial use, allow about a 1 – 2 minute delay in water dispensing, to allow internal water tank to fill.
30 Red meat Place fresh red meat on a plate and loosely cover with waxed paper , plastic wrap or foil. Store cooked and raw meat on separate plates. T his will prevent any juices lost from raw meat contaminating cooked meat. P oultry Fr esh whole birds should be rinsed inside and out with cold running water , dried, placed on a plate and covered .
31 Fr eezing food at -18˚C reduces microbial activity, and chemical and physical reactions. This allows food to be kept for considerably longer than when stored in the refrigerator . Fr ozen food care F or best results: Choose only good qualit y foods that freeze well.
32 F ood storage tips – freez er Meat, poultr y and game Meat should be froz en quick ly in order to maintain its texture. Do not stuff poultry before freezing. Always thaw poultr y completely before cooking. Red meat can be cooked from frozen, or from par tly or completely thawed states.
33 Car e and cleaning Refrigerator cleaning chart Impor tant! When cleaning your refrigerator , please pay attention to the char t below . Improper cleaning can result in damage to your refrigerator . Do not place buckets, shelves, or accessories in the dishwasher .

F ailure to do so can result in death or injur y to persons. 1 Remove all food from the refrigerator and turn the refrigerat or off.
35 Replacing light bulbs W ARNING! Electric Shock Hazard Disconnect power to refrigerator before replacing light bulb . After replacing light bulb, reconnect power .
36 Preparing for vacation Caution! If there is any possibility that the temperature where the refrigerator is located can drop below freezing, the entire water supply system (including the water tank and the water valve) must be drained by a qualified ser vicer if going on vacation.
37 Upon your return After a short vacation or absence: Reconnect the water supply and turn on supply valve (see page 9). Monitor water connection for 24 hours and correct leaks if necessar y . On RX693 / RX594 models run 10 – 15 glasses of water from the dispenser to flush out the system.
38 Improvements in refrigeration design may mean your new refrigerator produces sounds that are different to other models. T hese improvements have created a refrigerator that is better at preserving food, more energy efficient and quieter overall .
