Chapter 1: Ove rview 16 Physical Description The AT-2814FX ExpressCard is an integrated Fiber Fast Ethern et PCI ExpressCard with a pair of SC fiber connectors ba sed on Marvell 88E8059 chipset. A PCI ExpressCard is a new notebook interface that re places the PCMCIA Card Bus interface.

Chapter 2: Installi ng the Driver Software 22 Overview To install the driver software, you must download the driver software for the AT-2814FX ExpressCard from the Allied Tele sis website onto your operating system. Allied Telesis recommends installing the d river software for the AT- 2814FX ExpressCard before physically installing the card.

When you download the driver software from the Allied Telesis support website, record the path to where the driver file re sides on your system.

Chapter 4: Modi fying Advanced Prope rties 52 Interrupt Moderation The Interrupt Moderation feature allows you to limit the rate of interrupts to the CPU during packet transmission and packet recept ion. When this feature is enabled, interrupts are handled as a gro up so that the CPU utilization decreases; however, the late ncy may increase.

Chapter 4: Modi fying Advanced Prope rties 54 Jumbo Packet The Jumbo Packet property specifies the size o f the frame that the AT- 2814FX ExpressCard supports. The network performance usually improves when the larger packet size is specified ; however, the network must be capable of supporting such la rge packets.

Select one of the following options: 1514 Bytes — The AT-2814FX ExpressCard supp orts up to 1514 bytes in a packet size. This is the default value. 4088 Bytes — The AT-2814FX ExpressCard supp orts up to 4088 bytes in a packet size.
Chapter 4: Modi fying Advanced Prope rties 56 Large Send Offload (IPv4) The Large Send Offload feature for IPv4 traffic allows you to control the load of sending out large packets. When this feature is enabled, the AT- 2814FX ExpressCard segments large packets and reduces the CPU load.

Status Messages — An event log entry is g enerated every time the link status changes and stored in the event log file.

The user-defined address that you a ssign to the ExpressCard is called a locally administered address.

Here are guidelines to a ssigning a locally administered address: The address must be unique. The address consists of a 12-digit hexadecimal number , for example, “000C46005501.
