Copying 23 Copying without margins You can make a copy that covers the entire page of paper by using the BorderFree layout (see page 21 to select this layout). In the “Borde rFree” layout, you can change the followin g setting s (see “Changin g Copy Sett ing” on page 29).
24 Copying Copying with small margins You can make a copy wit h a 1.5- mm ma rgin aroun d all ed ges of th e paper by using the “Small Marg ins” layout (see “How to chang e the layout” on page 21 to select this layo ut).
Copying 25 Copying an image multiple times o n one s heet You can make mu ltiple copies of an ima ge on a s ingle sheet o f paper by using “Repea t” layout (see “How to chan ge the layout ” on page 21 to select this layou t). Yo u can select n umber of copi ed image fro m Auto, 4, 9 and 16.
26 Copying Making a poste r You can make a pos ter size co py using the “Poster” layout (see page 21 to select this layo ut). In the “Pos ter” layout, you can change the follo wing settings (see “Changin g Copy Setti ng” on page 29 ). * indicates the default set ting.

28 Copying Copying several pages on one sheet You ca n copy tw o or four o rigina l image s on a sin gle shee t of pape r by using “2-up” or “4-up” layout (see page 21 to select this layout). In the “2-u p” or “4-up” layout, yo u can cha nge the follow ing setti ngs (see “C ha nging Co py Se ttin g” on pa ge 29) .
Copying 29 Changing Copy Setting In the Copy Mode, you can change the copy settings as you prefer, using the A, B, C, and D button s. By pressing the Menu button when you are in the Copy Mode, you can adjust the follo wing feat ures as w ell.
30 Copying Saving and recalling copy settings You can save th e current copy settin gs (except the n umber of copies) by pressing the l Select button and ho ld it for 3 seconds. To recal l the setting s you have saved, press the r Se lect butt on an d hol d it for 3 second s.
Copying 31 Selecting the c opy quality Pr ess th e C button repeatedly un til the copy quality y ou want appears on the LCD panel. The options you can select are Draft, Text, Image, and Best.
32 Copying Selecting the paper size Select the appropriate size of the paper lo aded on the sheet feeder as described below. Press the D button repeatedly until the appropriate paper size appears on the LCD panel. The paper size you can select are: A4, 10 × 15, 4" × 6", and A5.

This product co nforms to DPOF version 1.10. DPOF lets yo u set phot o numb ers and the numbe r of copie s for ph otos stored on a digital camera, before you sta rt printing.

Replacing Ink Cartri dges 53 Replacing Ink Cartridges This product m onitors the amo unt of ink left in each cartridge, using an IC chip built into the cartridge. If it detects the in k is low or running out, it no tifies you of th e ink cartridge to replace, using a m essage on the LCD panel or your computer.
54 Replacing Ink Cartridges Checking the ink level using the LCD panel 1. Make sure thi s product is on, and then press the Setup Mode button. 2. Press the A button repeatedly until 2.Ink le vels appears on the LCD panel and then press the x Color button.

Do not touch the su pply port of the ink cartridge or its surrou nding area. ❏ This product uses ink cartridges equipped with an IC chip.

58 Replacing Ink Cartridges 5. Open the cartridge cover. 6. Pinch the sides of the ink ca rtridge that y ou want to replace. Lift the cartridge out of this product and dispose of it properly. Do not take the used cartridge apart o r try to refill it .
Replacing Ink Cartri dges 59 7. Install th e new ink cartridge straigh t into the cartridge holder, and then press the top of the cartridge until it clicks into place. If you need to replace the other in k cartridge, repeat steps 6 and 7. 8. Close the cartridge cover.

64 Maintenance and Tran sporting Aligning the Print Head If you not ice vertical lines are no t aligned pro perly on the noz zle check result, you ma y be able to solve thi s problem by align ing the print head. Follow th e steps below to align th e print head using th e Control Panel.

If you wa nt to conti nue the print head alignment operation, press the x Co lor button to print the alignm ent patterns again; oth erwise, press the y Stop but ton.
66 Maintenance and Tran sporting 1. Remove all paper from the sh eet feeder and make sure that this produ ct is off. 2. Open the sc anner unit and make su re that the print head is in the home position on the right. Secure the ink ca rtridges to this product with a tape, and then close th e scanner unit.

68 Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Error Messages You can iden tify ma ny co mmon pr oblems using the ! Error light an d error messages on you r Control Pa nel. If this pro duct stops working and the ! Error light is on, use the following table of error me ssages to diagnose the probl em, and then try the recommended solut ion.
Troubleshooting 69 The data on t he memory card has changed. Prin t a new Index Sheet, then try again. After an In dex Form is pri nted, an image f ile on the memory card is added or removed. Pri nt the Index For m again. No memory card. Operation canceled.
70 Troubleshooting The B&W button cannot be used to print in this mode. Press the Color butto n to print. The B&W bu tton is pressed w hile prin ting is done direct ly from the memo ry ca rd. Press the x Color butto n when you pr int d irec tly f rom the memo ry ca rd.

72 Troubleshooting Clearing the Jammed Paper If paper is jammed inside this product, an error message appears on the LCD panel. You may be able to clear the jammed paper using the Control Panel. Fo llow the instru ctions belo w. 1. Press the x Color button to eject the jammed paper.
