Loading Paper 5 Loading Paper F ollow the s teps her e to loa d paper in y our Epso n Styl us CX. 1. Open the paper support and output tray , then slide o ut the extensio ns. 2. Flip the feeder guard forward. Then slide the left ed ge gu ide to th e left.
6 Loading Paper Y ou can load up to 100 sheets of plai n paper and up to 20 sheets of photo paper . (See the User ’s Guid e for cap acity g uidel ines o n othe r paper t yp es.) Note: The t ype of paper y ou choos e affects the way yo ur printout l ooks, so be sure to select the correc t paper for y our job.

14 Scanning a Photo or Documen t Scanning a Photo or Document Y ou can use your Epson S tylus CX3800 Ser ies to scan a photo or document and save it on you r computer or other de vice, or to fax or e-mail it to someone else. Y ou can even autom atically restore fad ed color ph otographs as you scan.

Maintaining Your Epson Stylus CX 19 Cleaning th e Print Head If your pri ntouts are unexpectedly light or fai nt, or you notice light or dark band s across your printout, you may need to clean the print head. This unclogs the nozzles so they can deliver ink properly .
20 Maintaining Your Epson Sty lus CX Replacing Ink Cartridges When t he re d B ink light starts flashing, one or mor e cartridges are lo w on ink. When the red B ink light sta ys o n, yo u need to replace the car trid ge(s ). Y ou ’ll also see a m essag e on your screen when you pri nt, tel ling yo u whic h cartri dge is low or empty .

Caution: Do not remo ve or tear the label on the cartrid ge; otherwis e, ink w ill leak . Do not touc h the gree n chip on the side of the cartridge .
24 Maintaining Your Epson Sty lus CX 10. Close th e scann er . 11. P ress the B ink button. The Epson S tylus CX begins charging ink and the P On light starts flashing. This takes ab out o ne minute. When it’ s finished, the P On ligh t stops fl ash ing and remain s on, a nd the B ink light goes out.
