3 2 Installation Procedure Before you proceed with the installation, please notice following descript ions. Note1: The following installation was ope rated under Window s XP .

5 Software Inst allat ion This wizard can be run in W indows 2000/XP/V ista /7. Y o u can inst all the W i reless Adapter by EZMAX Setup Wizard in the CD-ROM including in the package. The wizard is an eas y and quick c onfiguration tool for i nternet connection with series process.
6 I. Install the Driver and Utility If you prefer the tradit ional setup procedure. Please insert the ins tallation CD to your CD-ROM Drive, and click “ Exit “ to disable EZm ax W izard. If your OS is W indows 2000/XP/Vista/7. Please e xecute the “ Utility S etup.
7 Select Setup Languag e and click “ OK ” to proceed..
8 Click “ Next ” to go to the ne xt step. Now you ‟ ll see the fol lowing m essage, please click „ Ins tall ‟ to begin the installation..

10 II. Connect to W ireless Access Point A. T o start configuring the adapter , double click the icon in the s ystem tray or r ight click the icon and select open configuratio n utility . B. The utilit y of the adapter is displa yed. Cl ick “ Av ailable Net work ” and double-click on the wireless access point you want to connect to.

12 * Use Win dows Zero Configura tion on Win dows V is ta: A. For W indows Vi sta user , you can use W indows Zero Configuratio n to connect to wireless ac cess point. Click „ S ta rt ‟ button, then click „ Con trol Panel . Click „ Net wor k and Internet ‟ in Contro l Panel.
13 C. Click the acces s point you want to use if it‟s shown, then click „Connect‟. D. If it‟s an unnamed access point (i.e. the SSID of this wireless access poi nt is hidden), you‟ll be prompted to inpu t it‟ s nam e, and the nam e m ust be ide ntica l to the SSID sett ing of the wireless access point you‟re connecting to.
14 E. If the access point is protected b y encryption m ethod, you have to inp ut its security or passphrase here. It mus t match the encr yption setting on the acces s point. F. 15 3 Configuration Utility The Configuration Uti lity is a powerf ul application that helps you configure th e W ireless LAN Min i USB Adapter and m onitor the link status and the statistics during the comm unication pr ocess . The Configuration Utilit y appears as an icon on the system tray and desktop of W i ndows.
16 3.1 Utilit y Overvie w There are several parts in the utilit y screen. Please ref er to the follo wing table for the description. Parameter Description Refresh – Ref resh adapter list in the “ B “ block . Mode – There are two m odes: S tation and Access Point.
17 It is the status bar that displa ys the current status of the utilit y . T o close it, please disabl e the “ S tatus Bar “ in the “ View “ item . There are several tabs in the bloc k for you to setup the function of the adapter . Please refer to the descr iption in the following sections.

20 3.4 Profile The “ Profiles List ” is for you to manage the net works you connect to frequentl y. You are able to Add/Remove/Edit/Du plicate/Set Def ault to manage a pr ofile. Parameter Description Available Profile(s) This list shows the preferred network s for the wireless connection.
21 3 . 4 . 1 C o n f i g u r e t h e P r o f i l e Parameter Description Profile Nam e Define a recogni zable prof ile name f or you to identify the different networks ( Access Point ) . Network Nam e (SSID) The SSID (up to 32 printable ASCI I characters) is the unique name identified in a W LAN.
22 Ch annel This setting is onl y available for Ad Hoc mode. Select the n umber of the radio channel used for the network ing. The channel setting should be the sam e with the network you are connecting to. Network Aut hentication This setting has to be co nsisten t with the wire less networks that the adapter inte nds to connect.
23 Parameter Description Data Encryption Disabled – Disab le the W EP Data Encryption. WEP – Enable the W EP Data Encryption. W hen the item is selected, you have to c ontinue setting th e W EP Encryption k eys.

EAP T y pe GTC – GT C is an authentication prot ocol which allows the exchange of clear tex t authent ication credenti als across the network. TLS – TLS i s the most secure of the E AP protocols but no t easy to use.
25 3.5 Status This scr een shows the inform ation of manufacturer , driver version, sett ings of the wireles s network the adapter is connect ing to, link ing time and link s tatus. If you don ‟ t ensure the status of the adapt er and the network you are connecting, please g o to the scr een for m ore details.
26 3.6 Statis tics You can get the real t ime inf ormation about the pack et transm ission and receiving status during wireless comm unication from the screen.
27 3.7 Wi -Fi Protect Setup (WPS) Wi -Fi Protected Set up (W PS) is the latest wireless net work technolog y which m akes wireless network setup becom e very simple.
28 3. If you click „ Yes ‟ , and t he fo llowing m essage will appea r on your com puter, p lease select the SSID of wireless access point that you wish to connec t and click „ Select ‟ . 4. Please wait while the install procedure is run ning and wait for f ew seconds to two minutes .
29 II. Push Button Config (PB C) 1. Start PBC pairing proce dure at acc ess point side (plea se refer to the instruc tion given b y your access point ‟ s manufac turer), then click „ PBC ‟ button in w ireless configuration utility to start to establish wireless connection by WPS.
30 3.8 Softw are AP You should click “ Mode “ and select “ Ac cess Point “ to enable Software AP mode.T his adapter can run as a wireless AP. The re lative conf igurations of the AP inclu ding channel, S SID, WEP encr yption and so on are described as f ollows.
