2 R EMOTE C ONTROL B ASICS This remote control gives you easy ac cess to all the features of a DISH Network satellite TV recei ver . Y ou can set up the remote to control the satellite TV receiver and up to th ree other devices. These devices can be a TV , a VCR or DVD player , and a third device.
3 I NST ALLING B ATTERIES The remote control requires AAA batteries. When you replace old batteries, you should replace all of the batteries. Use batteries of the same kind, for example , alkaline or carbon zinc, and don’ t mix batteries of different kinds.
4 C ONVERTING THE 4.0 R EMOTE C ONTROL By replacing the key at the bottom of the 4.0 remote, this remote can be converted to look and work like a 3.0 IR or to operate like a second UHF Pro remote to c ontrol the si de of the DI SH 322 receiver . The instructions below show you how to replace this key .
5 S ETTING U P TO C ONTROL THE S ATELLITE R ECEIVER The remote and the re ceiver must be set up on th e same address so that th e remote can control the receiver . When you ge t the remote, it's already set up to control the re ceiver on address 1.
6 1. For DISH 322 r eceivers only : If you are using a 4.0 Remote control with the green 1 UHF Pro key installed, perform the steps a. through e. below . If not, then go to step 2. a. Open the TV1 UHF Pro Setup screen by pressing MENU-6-1-8 on the remote control.
7 5. Press the POUND ( # ) button. If you entered the address correctly , the SAT mode button will flash three times. 6. Press the RECORD button. If you are using the 4.0 remote with the green 1 key (no UHF Pro marking), point the remote control at the receiver when you press the RECORD button.
8 S ETTING U P TO C ONTROL O THER D EVICE S T o use the remote to control othe r devices (such as a TV , VCR, DVD player , tuner , or amplifier), you must first program it to control these other devices.
9 For example, hold the TV mode button for a TV until all of the other mode buttons light. When you let go, the TV mode light will flash. 4. Only for the AUX mode , Use a number button to enter 0 for a second TV , or 1 for a second VCR or DVD player , or 2 for a tuner or amplifier .
10 3. Only for the AUX mode , use the number buttons to enter 0 for a second TV , 1 for a second VCR or DVD player , or 2 for a tuner or amplifier . Then press the STA R (*) button. 4. Press the blank POWER button. 5. Press the up or down arrow button until the device turns off.
11 For AUX mode , the first group of flashes tells you what the AUX mode controls. A quick flash (zero) before the three-digit code is for a TV ; one regular flash is for a VCR or DVD player; and two flashes is for a tuner or amplifier .
12 2. Press the POUND ( # ) button. 3. Press the plus (+) side of the VO L U M E button. 4. Press the 0 number button. 5. Press the POUND ( # ) button. The TV mode button flashes three times. 6. Press the SAT mode button. 7. Press the plus (+) and minus (-) sides of the VOLUME button.
13 C ONTROLLING THE S ATELLITE R ECEIVER S AT M ODE B UTTON Press this button to set t he remote to SAT (“satel lite”) mode to control the receiver. The SAT mode button’ s back light stays lit for about two seconds to show you’ve set the remote to SAT mode.
14 M UTE B UTTON Press this button to tu rn the TV sound on or off. Note : Y ou must set up the remote to control the TV for the MUTE button to work. See Setting Up to Contr ol Other Devices on page 8. M ENU B UTTON Press this button to open the Main Menu .
15 A RROW B UTTONS • Change channels - Press the UP or DOWN arrow button to change channels. • Open the Browse Banner - Press the RIGHT arrow button. • Show Themes - Press the LEF T arrow button. • Move around within the Program Guid e , menus, and Browse Banner - Press the UP , DOWN , LEFT , and RIGHT arrow buttons.
16 V IEW TV B UTTON • When you watch a program, press th is button to briefly display the Program Banner . • When you use a menu, press this button to cancel and go back to watch a program. C ANCEL B UTTON Press this button to cancel and go back to the previous menu or to watch a program.
17 Enter menu options - For an option with a number , you can press the number for that option inst ead of highlighting and selecting the option. • Enter numbers in a blank - Highli ght the place where you need to enter the number . Press a number button(s) (or, you can use the UP / DOWN arrow buttons to enter the number).
18 U SING THE R ECOVER B UTTON Use this procedure works only if you have accidentally changed the TV channel or video input. It do es not recover lost satellite signal. Note : RECOVER will first try to tune your TV to channel 3, then channel 4, and then other video inputs with each p ress of the RECOVER button.
19 C ONTROLLING A TV ( OR A S ECOND TV) Only the buttons described here c ontrol a TV . Some of the buttons described heremay not control your TV . See your TV user’ s manual for information about the TV’ s features. Y ou can set up the remote to control a second TV in AUX mode, the same way it controls the first TV in TV mode.
20 V OLUME B UTTON Press this button to raise (+) or lower (-) the TV sound volume . U P /D OWN A RROW B UTTONS Use these buttons to change channels on the TV . Note : These buttons do not change th e channels on the TV if the remote control is in limited m ode.
21 C ONTROLLING A VCR ( OR A S ECOND VCR OR A DVD P LAYER ) Only the buttons described here c ontrol a VCR or DVD player . Some of the buttons we te ll you about here may not control your VCR. See your VCR or DVD player user ’ s manual for information about the features.
22 P AGE U P /D OWN A RROW B UTTONS Use these buttons to change channels on the VCR. Note : If you are using the remote control in Limited Mode, the VCR will not change channels. V IEW TV B UTTO N For VCR/DVD combinations only : Press the VIEW TV button to switch between VCR and DVD functions.
23 C ONTROLLING A T UNER OR A MPLIFIER Only the buttons described here cont rol a tuner or amplifier . Some of the buttons described here may not c ontrol your tuner or amplifier . See the device user’s manual for information. A UX M ODE B UTTON Y ou must first set up the re mote to control the device.
24 U P /D OWN A RROW B UTTONS Use these buttons to change cha nnels on the tuner or amplifier . S ELECT B UTTON This button works as the INPUT SELECT button for the tuner or amplifier .
25 D EVICE C ODES These tables co ntain the manufac turer codes for programming the remote to control your TV , a VCR, DVD player , or audio amplifier . Every attempt has been made to include all codes. If your device brand is not listed or if the codes do not work, the remote may not control your device.
