Before Setting Up Y our Computer When positioning your computer , ensure that you allow easy access to a power source, adequate ventilation, and a level surface to place your computer .

T o set up Windows XP for the first time, follow the instructions on the screen. These steps are mandatory and may take up to 15 minutes to complete.

30 Solving Problems Power Problems If the power light is off — The computer is either turned off or is not receiving power . If the computer is plugged into a power strip, • ensure that the power strip is plugged into an electrical outlet and that the power strip is turned on.
