2-8 U SING Y OUR C OMPUTER M Y P RESARIO — G ETTING S TARTED If you ’ re going to be away from your computer but want to leave the power on, you can let your computer go to sleep. This process allows you to run programmes while your computer goes into a low-power state, which saves energy .

M Y P RESARIO — G ETTING S TARTED U SING Y OUR C OMPUTER 2-13 Diskette, Hard Drive, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, and Zip Drives Using the Diskette Drive 1. Hold a diskette with the label facing up and the arrow on the diskette pointing toward the drive; then gently push the diskette into the drive.
2-14 U SING Y OUR C OMPUTER M Y P RESARIO — G ETTING S TARTED The CD-ROM drive allows you to read data from a CD or listen to a music CD. The CD-R W drive allows you to read and write data to a disc(s) for storage, and allows you to listen to music or read data CDs.
M Y P RESARIO — G ETTING S TARTED U SING Y OUR C OMPUTER 2-15 A CD-ROM drive reads CDs, CD-R, and CD-R W media. A DVD-ROM drive reads all CD media, plus DVD discs. When you have finished listening to the CD, store the disc in the storage compartment on the front of your computer or in its protective case.
2-16 U SING Y OUR C OMPUTER M Y P RESARIO — G ETTING S TARTED Y ou can only play a DVD movie from a DVD-ROM drive. When you are finished watching a movie, store the DVD in its protective case. Y ou can contr ol the actions of the DVD player (pause, r ewind, etc.
