5 2 Introduction 2.1 Operational Overv iew The Tiger is a lighting controller that allows for th e control of intelli gent and generic li ghting in a seamless manne r. It can be used in a variety o f appli cations from clubs to theat re to televi sion.
6 There are tw o ways to approach the manual. If you are impatient to ge t started simply go to section 3 Quick Sta rt and leap in. I f you want a m ore detailed expl anation then you wi ll need to work your way through each section of the manu al. 2.
7 2.3.2 Faders and Fl ash Buttons The faders and flash buttons are used to perform di fferent functions depen ding on the mode the console is in. In playback mode the first 9 faders o n each page are used to trigger me mories while the flash but tons bump the me mories to full.
8 3 Quick St art This section wi ll assume that you are turning the console on for the first tim e and you have not assigned or patched any fixtures. 3.
9 The softkeys on ei ther side of the < Unass igned > command w ill scroll you through the fixtures stored on the consol e. For the purpose o f this manual w e will assume we have four Chauvet 250XR fittings . Use the so ftkeys to scroll throu gh until you hav e the name of the fixtu re on the screen.
10 3.2 Program a Me mory You should be on the following screen: Press the More.. key to move to the following menu screen: Select the ProgMe m key to ta ke you to: The Tiger has 12 pages that you can record me mories on. Use the Page + or Page – keys to go to the page y ou wish to record on.
11 If a parameter has been changed the yellow LED f lashes. This indicates that that parameter wi ll be included in the memory. Once you have se t the look that you want use the Back key to go back to th e previous menu : You can use the Sav e key to store the look in the flash but ton you originally selected.
12 3.3 Programming a Sequence On ce you hav e programmed memories you can store them in sequences and replay these either manually , to a beat, triggered by sound or b y setting the speed . To store a se quence go to the following menu: Select the ProgSeq soft key.
13 Once you have se t the number o f steps you require use the Back key twice to take you to the save menu page . From this pa ge you can sav e the chase or if you do not want to keep i t then you can use cancel. You now need to use the Back key to go to the defaul t menu page.
14 4 Setting up the Cons ole The Tiger is a DMX lighting console. As such devices tha t are to be con trolled will have a DMX address. Some dev ices make use o f more than o ne DMX channel. Fo r instance a movi ng light may have 12 DM X channels. If the address of this fixture is se t to 1 the ne xt available DM X address wil l be 13.
15 Select the Assign /Patch soft-key. This w ill bring up the following menu: Select the Fixtur es softkey. You w ill now see the foll owing screen: Select the Edit Key . The screen now shows: The softkeys on ei ther side of the < Unass igned > command w ill scroll you through the fixtures stored on the consol e.
16 Repeat these steps until you have assigned all the fixtures y ou wish to use. Once a fixture has been assigned the y ellow LED on the relevant flash button will be illuminated.
17 Dimmer Channel 1 Pan Channel 2 Tilt Channel 3 Colour Wheel Channel 4 Gobo Wheel Channel 5 Speed Channel 6 The manufacturer has launched a new model of the fixture adding a seco nd colour wheel . The colour wheel is on channel 7. You w ould have selected the a ttribute as a c olour, then go to th e DMX screen selec t 007 and press OK.
18 When settin g the Home value y ou can use the Up or Down keys or the flash button to set the home value. To set the colour , beam or any other a ttributes sel ect Insert . Using the soft- key Name wil l toggle through the op tions availabl e. Select the one you require .
19 Scroll to the channel number you w ish to patch ei ther using the Up or Down keys to change pages or the <> keys to mov e in single digits. It is also possible to use the flash buttons as a numeric entry tool. Once you hav e selected the rel evant channel then select Edit .
20 5 Programming The Tiger consol e can store 108 base memories that can be used to build up a range of sequences and chases . When recordin g a memory you can select whi ch attributes and whi ch fixtures and channel s you want reco rded in each memory .
21 Once you have pre ssed the relev ant flash button the menu changes: The flash buttons and faders have now also changed function. They now allow you to select fixtures or con trol the intensi ty of generic channel s and fixtures. The flash buttons which have yellow LED ‟s lit are the ones to w hich fixtures have been assigned.
22 To set Generic c hannel level s use the More.. soft- key to get the generic c hannel pages. The faders wi ll control the intensi ty of the generic cha nnels. Once you have se t the look that you want use the Back key to go back to th e previous menu : You can use the Sav e key to store the look in the flash but ton you originally selected.
23 5.3 Effects The effects tool s provided on the Ti ger are aimed at aidi ng with programm ing speed. There are two types o f effect , Movement and Fan. The Movement function allow s you to quickly program a cir cle or a square . You can change the size of the X and Y paramete rs and you can also set the speed.

Fro m here you can access the Chann els function. 5.3.2 Fans Fans are a quic k way to set an attribu te on differe nt lights to a di fferent value. Havi ng gone into program mode and selected the ligh ts you w ish to work with select Channels .
25 It is possible to s tore up to 12 Se quences each of 250 steps. To selec t a different sequen ce number use the Up or Down soft keys to select the sequence n umber you w ant. If the number next to steps has a value other than 000 then it has al ready had memorie s stored in it.
26 To playba ck your sequence select the sequence number using the Page+ or Page- keys. Havi ng selected the sequen ce raise the Mas ter fader. You can then set the speed o f the chase and the fade time betw een steps by using the Speed and Fade faders.
27 To stop a se quence reset the Speed fader to zero. To edit an ex isting Sequence select the sequence a fter having gone into pro gram sequence mode. This w ill bring up a new menu: Cancel wil l take you back a to the p revious menu. Save As wi ll allow you to sav e the sequence wi th a different number.
28 6 Playback 6.1 Memories To playba ck a memory you need to be on the followi ng menu or Run 2 or Run 3 menu screens : The Page+ or Page- soft-key s will allow y ou to navigate between the 12 page s of memories. Each page has nine memories and one sequence sto red on it.
29 6.3 Sequences There are several options as to how a sequence can be played bac k. Firstly use the Page+ or Page- soft-keys to select w hich sequence you wan t to output.
30 sequence by hav ing programmed a page of me mories that only contain the colour attributes o f the fixtures. Triggering the pa ge chase will mean the fixtures change col our each time they move. For a Page chase to work you need to have the Master Fader set above z ero.

32 7 Memory Module Each Tiger consol e is shipped w ith a memory mo dule. The memory modul e allow s you to back up a show or sto re a show while the desk is used for a different event. It is also possible to store different fixtu re types on the module.
33 8 Super User Fun ctions The Tiger Console ha s a set up menu that is not accessible during usual operation. The functions av ailable in this mode are generally only used w hen setting the c onsole up for personal preferen ces. There are three super user menus, the More.
34 8.3 Lock Mod e The desk may be loc ked to prev ent unauthorised modi fication to the show data. No memori es or sequences can be recorded, edited or deleted. The des k will still how ever output memories and sequences. It is also not possibl e to change the patch o r f ixture selec tion.
35 8.5 Pan and Tilt Defau lt Settings You can toggle betw een two settin gs for Pan and Tilt. The soft-key for this function is on the second page o f super user option s.
36 9 Connections There are five conne ctions on the rear panel of the Tiger Console. 9.1 Power Connectio n A four pin ring loc king DIN connector is provided for the connec tion of a re mote power supply . DC Connections: Pin 1 – + 10 Vol ts @ 400mA (650mA) Pin 2 – 0 Volts si gnal ground Pin 3 – +20 Volts @ 200mA Pin 4 – Not Used 9.
37 9.3 DMX Out Con nection A single 5 pin Fe male out shall be provided to con nect the Tiger console to DMX dev ices. Wiring shall be in compliance w ith DMX 512 1990 standa rds. The connec tion is not isolated but has voltage pro tection. Data shall be transmitted on all 512 channels.
