4 About this manual... This manual explai ns function and opera tions when any on e of the following devices is co nnected to the USB port of the CASIO Data Projector.
5 About the Data Projector’s USB Functions The USB port built into the Data Pr ojector lets you connect an exter nal USB device and use it as an input source for image pro jection. USB Memory Device or Memory Card After you connect a mem ory device to the Data Projector’ s USB port, you can playback (project) the following types o f files.
6 Document Camera (CASIO YC-400/YC-430) You can connect a CASIO Document Cam era to the Data Projector’s USB port a nd project the images of documents placed on the docu ment stage of the YC-400/YC-430. For more information, see “Performing a Presentation Usin g the YC-400/YC-430 Document Camera” on page 40.
7 Connecting a USB Device to the Data Projector What happens when you conne ct a USB device while the Data Projector is turned on depends on the current configuration of the Da ta Projector’s plug -and-play setting. Plug-and -play is enabled under the Data Projector’s init ial default settings.
8 Installing the Software The following USB expansion function software is included on th e CD-ROM that comes with the projector. Important! The latest vers ion of the compute r software in cluded on .
9 To install EZ-Converter FA 1. Place the CD-ROM that comes with the pr ojector into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. z This will automatica lly display the CD-ROM menu screen. 2. On the menu screen, click the [Install] button to the right of “EZ-Converter FA”.
10 To install ArcSoft MediaConv erter 3 for CASIO Projector 1. Place the CD-ROM that comes with the pr ojector into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. z This will automatica lly display the CD-ROM menu screen. 2. On the menu screen, click the [Install] button to the right of “ArcSoft MediaConverter 3 for CASIO Projector”.
11 Installing Multi Projection Camera Upda te Software A YC-400 Multi Projection Camera can be connected to the Data Projector only if it is running firmware version 1.1 or higher . For information about how to chec k the firmware version of a camera, se e the file named “YC-Update_Gui de_English.
12 Projecting the Contents of Files on a Memory Device This section explains how to perform the following operations. z How to use EZ-Converter FA computer software to convert Powe rPoint files to files that can be played back with the Da ta Projector’s Viewer function.
13 Starting Up and Exit ing EZ-Converter FA To start up EZ-Converter FA Perform either of the following oper ations to start up EZ-Co nverter FA on the co mputer. z Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop. z On your computer’s Windows S tart menu, select [All Programs] - [CAS IO] - [EZ-Conve rter FA].
14 Converting a PowerPoint File to an ECA File or PtG File Important! z Before performi ng any of the opera tions here, you will need to have a file created using Microsoft Offi ce PowerPoint 2003, 2007 or 2010 on hand. z Conversion of a PowerPoint fil e to an ECA file or PtG file requires playback o f the original file from beginning to end.
15 6. Select the PowerPoint file you want to convert from and then click the [Open] button. z This will display a dialog box like the one shown below for sp ecifying the file settings . 7. Configure the settings as re quired on the dialog box. z The following desc ribes the meanings and settings of each of the items that appear on the dialog box.
16 To specify the screen resolut ion of the ECA file or PtG file 1. Right-click the left side of the EZ-Converter FA window. 2. On the menu that appears, click “Output Resolution”. 3. On the sub-menu that appears, select the resolu tion you want. z You should normally use the 1024 × 768 setting, which is the resolution of this proj ector.
17 5. Click the button to start playback. z This will display a control panel at the top of the screen. z During file playba ck, you can use the control pan el buttons to perform the operations described below.
18 To convert a movie file to a format that can be played by Viewer 1. Double-click the icon on your computer desktop. z This starts up ArcS oft MediaConvert er 3 for CASIO Proj ector and displa ys a window like the one shown below.
19 Use the Data Projec tor’s Viewer a pplication to project the c ontents of a file on a memory device. Viewer starts up automati cally whenever you connec t a memory device that is suppo rted by the Data Projector into the Data Projector’s U SB port.
20 To connect a memory card to t he Data Projector 1. Load the memory card into a USB card reader ’s card slot. z For details about how to load a memory card into the USB car d reader, see the user documentation that comes with the reader. 2. Connect the USB card reader to the Data Project or ’s USB po rt.
21 Starting Projection with Viewer If the Data Projector is already turned on when you per form the procedure under “Connecting a Memory Device to the Data Projector” (page 19) to co nnect USB memory to the Data Projector, the main Viewer window shown below will be projected.
22 Drive Menu Entering the Presenta tion Mode, Slide Mode, or Mo vie Mode while there are multiple memor y devices connected to the Data Pr ojector (multiple USB m emory devices connected via a US B hub, multiple memory cards loade d in the memory card reader connected to the Data Projector, etc.
23 Projecting an ECA File or PtG File Use the Viewer Presentatio n Mode to project ECA or PtG files. To project an ECA file or PtG file 1. Connect the memory device where the ECA fi le or PtG file y ou want to project is stored to the Data Projector. z This will project the ma in Viewer window.
24 Operations during ECA File or PtG File Projection The operations described below can be performed while an ECA file or PtG file is playing. The operations described below can be performed while EC A file or PtG file playback is paused. To do this: Perform this operation: Go to the previous pag e Press the [ W ] key.
25 Page Menu Operat ions Pressing the [ O ] key while an ECA fi le or PtG file is being played will proj ect a page menu like the one shown below. The operations described below can be performed while the pa ge menu is being projec ted.
26 Projecting an Ima ge File Use the Viewer Slide Mode to project ima ge files. You can also group image files and project them in a specific sequence a s a slideshow. To project an image file 1. Connect the memory device where the image file you want to proj ect is stored to the Data Projector.
27 Projecting a Slideshow The Data Projector’s Slide Mode lets you group multiple image files and proj ect them in sequence as a slideshow. You can s elect either manual pl ayback or auto playba ck for slideshow i mage display. The initial default setting is manual playback.
28 6. Perform the operations described below as required. z The following oper ations can be performed while a sli deshow is paused. 7. To return to the file menu after the sl ideshow is complete, press the [ESC] key. Projecting a Movie File Use the Viewer Movie Mode to project movie files.
29 To project a movie file 1. Connect the memory device where the movie file you want to proj ect is stored to the Data Projector. z This will project the ma in Viewer window. If the main Viewer window does not appear , press the [INPUT] key and s elect “USB” as the input source.
30 Operations during Movi e File Projection The operations described below can be performed whil e a movie f ile is playing or paused. * For details about f ast forward and fast rever se, see “To perform fast fo rward and fast reverse during movie playback”, below.
31 3. Perform the operations described below as required. File Menu Operations This section explains ope rations you can perform while the file list is displayed in the Prese ntation, Slide, or Movie Mode. List View and Icon View There are two differe nt views for the Viewer file menu: a list vi ew and an icon view.
32 To toggle the file menu between th e list view and icon view Press the [FUNC] key and then the [ENTER] key. Note You can specify either the list vi ew or icon view as the default view. For m ore informat ion, see “Configuring Vi ewer Settings” on page 34.
33 To view file properties 1. Display the file men u list view. 2. Use the [ T ] and [ S ] keys to move the highlighting to the file whose properties you want to view. z A thumbnail and the properties of the currently hi ghlighted file will a ppear on the left side of the file menu.
34 To retu rn to th e main Vie wer win dow 1. Press the [FUNC] key. 2. On the function menu that appears, use the cursor keys to move the high lighting to “Back to Viewer Selection” and then press the [ENTER] key. Configuring Viewer Settings You can use the Viewer setup menu to configure the Viewer function se ttings described below.
35 To display the Viewer setup menu Perform either of the following o perations. Operation 1 1. Project the main Viewer window. z If you are playing a file in the Presentation, Slide, or Movie Mo de, pause playback and return to the file menu. Next, press [FUNC], then [ T ], then [ENT ER].
36 To configure Viewer settings 1. Display the Viewer setup menu. 2. Use the [ T ] and [ S ] keys to move the highlighting to the ite m whose setting you want to change.
37 Refer to the following whenever Viewer operations are no t what you expect. Memory Devices Viewer Troubleshooting Problem Cause and Required Action Viewer does not appear when I connect USB memory to the Da ta Projector’s USB port. z The USB memory you are conn ecting may have a format that cannot be recognized by the Data Proj ector.
38 File Display and Playback Problem Cause and Required Action ECA or PtG files conv erted from Power Point files using EZ-Converter FA do not appear in the file menu.
39 Viewer Error Messages Problem Cause and Required Action Folder does not co ntain any image files. There is no displayable folder, ECA file or PtG file, image file , or movie file in the folder you are tryin g to access with Viewer. Use your computer to che ck the cont ents of the f older.
40 Performing a Presentation Using the YC-400/YC-430 Document Camera This section explains how to connect the CASIO YC-400/YC-430 Mu lti Projection Ca mera (document camera) to the Data Projec tor in order to pr oject the images o f documents place d on the document stage of the doc ument camera.
41 To connect the document camer a to the Data Projector and project the image of a document 1. Turn on the Data Projector. z Wait until the Data Projector’s POWE R/STANDBY indicator is lit green. 2. Connect the document camera to the Data Projector us ing th e USB cable that comes bundled with the document camera.
42 4. Place the document whose image you wan t to project onto the document camera’s document stage. z Be sure to place the docume nt in the center of the stage, and do not let any par t of the document extend off the edges of the stage.
43 This section explains the v arious types of projection operatio ns you can perform with the YC Camera application and how to confi gure YC Camera application settings.
44 To adjust the document camera’s zoom se tting 1. Press the [FUNC] key to display the YC Camera application fun ction menu. 2. Use the [ T ] key to move the highl ighting to “Camera Zoom/Focus” and then press the [ENTER] key. z This causes the Y C Camera Zoom/F ocus dialog box to appear in the pr ojection area.
45 To adjust the camera po sition 1. Remove all documents and obj ects from the document stage. 2. Press the [FUNC] key to display the YC Camera application fun ction menu. 3. Use the [ T ] key to move the highl ighting to “Adjust Camera Position” and then press the [ENTER] key.
46 To perform white enhancement on the currently p rojected image Note z White enhancement causes the background of the projected image to be white enhanced, which helps to make the text on a document easier to read. z This operation wil l affect only the image that is currently being projecte d.
47 Configuring YC Camera Applic ation Setup Menu Settings You can use the YC Camera setu p menu to configure va rious YC C amera application oper ation settings. To configure YC Camera applicat ion setup menu settings 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the setup menu.
48 To restore all settings on the YC Camera application setup menu to their initial factory defaults 1. Press the [MENU] key to display the setup menu. 2. Press the [ T ] key to move the highlighting to “USB” and then press the [ENTER] key. 3. Press the [ T ] key once to move the high lighting to “Setup” and then press the [ENTER] key.
49 YC Camera Application Setup Menu Contents This section pro vides detailed e xplanations of all of the items included on the YC Camer a application setup menu.
50 Skew Correction Specifies whether or not skew correction should be performed autom atically on the projected image. On * : Turns on au tomatic skew correctio n.
51 Projecting the Screen Image of a Graphing Calculator You can connect a CASIO graphing calculator to the Data Projector usi ng a USB cable and project the calculator’s scr een image with the Data Projector . USB connection of the following CASIO graphing calculators is supported.
