8 Step 3 — Locate Unit — The following guidelines should be considered when choosing a location for a WSHP: • Units are for indoor use only . • Locate in areas where ambient temperatures are betwe en 39 F and 102 F and relative humidity is no greater than 75%.
9 Preparation — The unit should be on the ground in a well lit area. Hung units should be take n down to ground level before converting. Side to Back Discharge Conversion 1. Remove screws to free the top and discharge panels. Set screws aside for later use.
10 VE R T IC AL UN IT S ( 50P SV , P S D ) — Each unit uses a con- densate hose inside all cabinets as a trapping loop, therefore an external trap is not necessary . See Fig. 12. Each unit must be installed with its own individual vent and means to flush or blow out the condensate drain line.

12 In all applications, the quality of the water circulated through the heat exchanger must fall within the ranges listed in the W ater Quality Guidelines table. Consult a local water firm , independent testing facility , or local water authority for specific recommendations to maintain water quality within the pub- lished limits.
13 Optional pressure-rated hose assemblies designed specifi- cally for use with Carrier units are available. Similar hoses can be obtained from alternate supp liers. Supply and return hoses are fitted with swivel-joint fittings at one end to prevent kink- ing during installation.

27 Step 9 — Wire Field Contr o ls TH E RM OS T A T C ON NE CT IO N S — The thermostat should be wired directly to the ECM control board. See Fig. 27. W A TER FREE ZE PROTECTION — The Aquazone™ con- trol allows the field selection of source fluid freeze protection points through jumpers.
28 WS HP OP EN WI R ING — The WSHP Open controller will be factory mounted to the unit control panel and wired to the Complete C or Deluxe D control board, however , the system wiring will need to be completed utilizing WSHP Open con- troller wiring diagrams and the Third Party Integration (TPI) Guide.

30 DEHUMIDIFICA TION MODE — The dehumidification mode setting provides field selection of humidity control. When oper- ating in the normal mode, the cooling airflow sett ings are deter- mined by the cooling tap setting in T able 1 1 .

32 PRE-ST A R T -UP System Chec kout — When the installation is complete, follow the system checkout procedure outlined below before starting up the system. Be sure: 1. V oltage is within the utilizati on range specifications of the unit compressor and fan moto r and voltage is balanced for 3-phase units.
33 Heating/Cooling Thermostat T ype — Switch 3 provides se- lection of thermostat type. Heat pump or heat/cool thermostats can be selected. Select OFF for heat/cool thermostats. When in heat/cool mode, Y1 is used for cooling stage 1, Y2 is used for cooling stage 2, W1 is used for heating stage 1 and O/W2 is used for heating stage 2.
34 HWR APPLICA TION CONSIDERA TIONS — Unlike most hot gas reh eat options, the HWR opt ion will operate over a wide range of entering-water temperatures (EWT s). Special flow regulation (wat er regulating valve) is no t required for low EWT conditions.
35 Deluxe D Contr ol Accessory Relay Configura- tions — The following accessory relay settings are applica- ble for Deluxe D control: CYCLE WITH F AN — In this configuration, the accessory relay 1 will be ON any time the Fan Enable relay is on.

51 The bulb must be secured to the pipe using a copper strap. The use of heat transfer paste between the bulb and the pipe will also help ensure optimum performance. The bulb must also be properly insulated to eliminate any influence on valve operation by the surrounding conditions.
