Your Phone 9 Key Description (soft keys) P erforms the functions indicated by the text ab ov e them, on the bottom line of the disp lay . In the menu mode: scrolls through the menu options. In the id le mode: the Up ke y activates the c amera and the Down key e nters the Se arch contact menu.
Your Phone 10 Display Display L ayout The display has three areas. Used for various purpos es in different functions . The key inserts a pause when held down while entering a number . In the id le mode : the k ey ente rs or ex its the s ilent mode when held down.
Your Phone 11 Icons Icon Description Shows the received signal strength. The greater the number of bars, the better the signal. Informs y ou about the calling mod e. • : A call is in p rogress. • : A cal l is impossible . • : A video call is in progress.
Your Phone 12 External Display Y our phone has an external display on the folder cover . I t indicates when you have an incoming call or message, and alerts yo u at the specified time when you set an alarm. When you hold down one of the volume keys, the external displa y backlight illuminates.

Getting Starte d 14 Removing the SIM Card T o remo ve the SIM card, slide the card out of the holder , as shown. Installing/Removing/Charging the Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery . Use only appro ved batteries and chargers.

When charging is finished, unplug the charger from the power outlet and from the phone by pressing the grey buttons on both sides of the connector and pulling the connector out. Getting Started 17 Switching the Phone On or Off 1. Open the phone. 2. Press and ho ld the key until the phone switches on. 3. If the phone asks for a PIN, enter the PIN code and press the Confirm soft key . Fo r further details, see page 125. The phone begins searching for your network.

Call Functions 22 Making a Call Using Contacts Y ou can store contact information, such as names and phone numbers, that yo u use regularly in the SIM card and the phone’ s memory . For more information about adding contacts, see page 9 1. 1. Find the number you want to dial.
Call Functions 23 4. R epeat steps 2 and 3 to add more pauses and numbers, if necessary . 5. Press the key to dial. 6. When prom pted, press the key to send the D TMF (Dual T one Multi- frequency) tones of the number that follo ws the pause. The number is sent to the system.
Call Functions 24 Adjusting t he Volume If you wish to adjust the ea rpiece v olume during a call, use keys on the left side of the phone. Press the key to i ncrea se the volume l evel a nd the k ey to decrease the lev el. Using these keys, y ou can also adjust the key tone vo lume in the idle mode with the ha ndset open.

Press the Up or Do wn scroll k ey to scroll to the participant y ou want to rem ove and press the OK key . 32 Entering Text Y ou may need t o enter text, when stori ng a name in the phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events in your calendar . Y our phone has the following text input modes: • T9 mode * This mode allows y ou to ente r words w ith only one ke ystroke per letter .
Enterin g Text 33 Shortcut s to the T ext Input Modes Using the T9 Mode T o type a word in the T9 mode: 1. Start entering the w ord by pressing the ke ys 2 to 9 . Press each key only once for each letter . Example : T o enter “hello” in the T9 mo de, press 4 , 3 , 5 , 5 and 6 .

37 Using Menu Functions Y our phone offers a range of functions that allow you to tailor the phone to y our needs. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus. The menus and sub-menus can be accessed by scrolling us ing the scroll k eys or by using the shortcuts.

Call Log 43 Send message : allows you to send a text message, multimedi a message or message wit h media attached. Delete : deletes the call. Delete all : deletes all of the call records stored in the current ca ll log. Data Calls (Menu 1-5) Y ou can see total sent and receiv ed data calls’ sizes.

Vodafone live! 47 used to store the most recen tly acc esse d web pages. After you ha ve accessed c onfidential information requiring passwords like your bank account, you need to empty the cache. When a warning message appea rs, press the Yes soft key to clear th e information.
Vodafon e live! 48 Send URL : allows you to send the URL by short message, mult imedi a message or Email . Delete : deletes the selected boo kmark. Delete all : deletes all of the bookmarks. Settings : allows you to change the settings for connecting to the Wireless W eb.
49 Applications Using the Applications menu, you can use popular applications, alarms, and Jav a progr ams such as games. Using App licatio ns 1. Press the Left or Right scroll key t o select an application folder , Basic , Alarm or Games & mor e .
Application s 50 Taking a Picture 1. T o turn on your cam era, press the Up scroll key in th e idle mo de. Y ou can see the picture to be take n on the display . 2. P oin t the cam er a at the subje ct - rotating the camera if necessary . T o flip the picture over , press the Up or Down volume key on the left side of the phone.

60 Profiles In Prof il es , you can adjust and customise the phone tones for di fferent event s or situati ons. There are five prese t profiles: Normal , Meeting , Car , Silent , and Outdoor , which you can customise to m eet yo ur needs.
Profiles 61 • Tone volume : allows you to ad just the volume level of the voice call, video call, ringtone, and the message ale rt tone. • Msg. aler t type : allows y ou to select th e alert type for the message ringer .
62 Messages This menu allows you to create, send, read and sav e messages with the Short Me ssage Service (SMS), Multimedia Message Service (MMS) and Email. SMS is a serv ice wh ich allow s y ou to se nd or receive a text message. MMS is a messaging service v ery similar to a SMS.

Scroll to one of the accounts by pressing the Up and Down scroll key and press the Opti ons soft key . 80 My Items Y ou can enjoy various multim edia files, such as sounds, videos, and pictures using My Items . Exploring the Multime dia Files Y ou can use up to 5 categories of multimedia files: Pictures , Vide os , Music , Sounds , Other files .

85 Organiser The Organiser feat ure allows you to view the current month as well as the past or future month in calendar format. Y ou can schedule up to 100 events in total. Y ou can also mak e up to 50 anniversary , 20 task and 20 memo items. Calendar (Menu 7-1) The calendar displays the current month and highlights the current day .

90 Contacts Y ou can create a phonebook by sa ving phone numbers and names. Y our phone gives you an easy way to make calls by using the phonebook numbers and names. Search Contact (Menu 8-1) When you access this menu, the Search contact screen displays.
Contacts 91 Add Contact (Menu 8-2) Y ou can add to your phonebook by sav ing phone numbers and the corresponding names in the memories of your SIM card and phone. Y ou can save up to 1000 names in th e phone’ s m emory . Each name can have up to five numbers and other personal inform ation.
Contacts 92 • Email : enter the person’s email address. • Group : press the OK key to enter one or more groups. 2. Press the Down scroll k ey to mov e to the location number input bo x and m odify a number , if you want. 3. Press the Options soft key and select Save option.

Setting s 100 Main Menu Style Y ou can change the appear ance of the main menu. Call (Menu 9-3) Caller ID Y ou can prevent your phone number from being display ed on the pho ne of the person b eing called. Note : Some networks do not allow the user to change this setting.
