○ ○ ○ ○ FOR GASOLINE OR DIESEL POWERED GENERATOR SETS ○ ○ ○ ○ ♦ Check all fuel supply piping and thei r connec tions on a monthly basis for fuel leaks. ♦ Use only approved piping and componentry in your fuel supply system. ♦ A professional, experience d technician should only install the fuel supply system.
TABLE OF CONTENTS SECTION PAGE Basic Location Information…………………………………………………………………………………………………..1 Basic Connection Information…………………………………………………………………………………………….
LOCATION For best service from your statio nary generator set there are several factors which should be taken into consideration when choosi ng the best location in wh ich to permanently mount it: MOISTURE: All ele ctrical equipment shoul d be protected from ex cessive moisture.
CONNECTIONS WIRING: Use sufficiently large insu lated wire to connect the generator set to the load. The gauge of the wire will depend largely on the distance, the pe rmissible voltage drop, and the size and type of load. If you are not sure of the gaug e wire needed for your application, consult a competent electrician.
ENGINE INFORMATION This operator's manual only covers basic day-to-d ay engine operating inst ructions. However, the engine manufacturer's manual is includ ed with your generator s et and should be referred to for any additional information you may need.
MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED ON THE GENERATOR SET AFTER THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED AN D THE GENERA TOR SET HAS COOLED DOWN. THE BATTERY AND SPARK PLU G SHOULD ALSO BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO PERFORMING MAINTENANC E.
equipped with this feature) . Make sure that the auto idl er magnet does not touch th e throttle lever of the engine when it is ru nni ng and the auto idler switch is turned off. √ Adjust the engine s peed to 3720 RPM's (62 Hz) with no load applied to the generator set.
STORAGE If you will not be using the generato r set for a si gnificant amount of time (3 months or longer) you should store the generator to pr event any problems th at coul d arise from sitting idle. Please fully read the following guidelines pr ior to storing the unit.
USE OF ELECTRIC MOTORS Electric motors require much more current (am peres ) to start them than to run them. Some m otors, particularly split-phase motors are very difficult to start and requires 5 to 7 times as much cur rent to start them as it does to run them.
ORDERING PARTS When Generator repair parts are ne eded, they may be obtained by calling the Parts Department at Baldor Generators or the nearest local office of Bald or Electric C ompany. Accurate information such as the following will assure that you receive accu rate parts for your particular generator: 1.
OPERATION PRIOR TO STARTING THE UNIT: 1. Locate and set up the generator set in an open, dry, well ventilated and reasonably level location. OPERATING THIS UNIT IN AN AREA NOT SUITABLE FOR IT'S PROPER USE MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT, SEVERE INJURY, OR DEATH.
If the engin e does not start after tur ning the engine over a few times, smell for fuel n ear the air cleaner. If there is a sig nificant gasoline smell coming from the air cleaner, turn the choke lev er off and attempt to s tart the engine with the choke off.
SIMPLE TROUBLESHOOTING Listed below are the mor e simple solutions to some of th e more co mmon problems that are reported to the Service D epartment at Baldor Gen erators. These troublesho oting solutions are meant to be an aid for a person who has minimal electrical knowledge an d experience.
E. Restart the unit and ch eck for voltage output. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN US ING THE ALTERNATE METHOD FOR FLASHING THE GENERATOR AS YOU WILL BE WORKING AROU ND FAST, ROTATING COMPONENTS ALONG WITH LIVE WIRES AND BARE CONNECTIONS. LOW VOLTAGE OUTPUT Possible Problems: 1.
